Roger L. Snyder
Roger L. Snyder, 56 of Delta passed away at his home on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Roger was born Aug. 26, 1953, in Toledo, the son of the late Donald H. Snyder and Iona (Eckel) Snyder, who survives. He married Karen (Condon) Snyder on July 31, 1976, and she survives.
Roger was a lifelong farmer. He was a proud member of the FSA Board as a committee and county chairman from 1983-2006. He was also a Fulton County Farm Bureau member since 1973, where he was president from 2003-2008 and campaign chairman, during which he was top membership signer from Fulton County several times. One of Roger's proudest moments was his induction into the Fulton County Agriculture Hall of Fame. He also served as Fulton County delegate to the Ohio Farm Bureau multiple times. He was a board supervisor for the Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation District from 1989-1998, serving in all positions on the board including chairman for 1992 and 1996. Representing the Fulton SWCD, he was the grand award winner of the Goodyear/NACD Conservation Awards program.
Roger is also survived by his children, Michelle Snyder, Laura (Michael) Jay and Gina and Kyle Snyder, brothers, Ronnie (Teresa) Snyder of Delta and Lonnie (Linda) Snyder of Swanton; sisters, Candyce (Doug) Eicher of Delta, Vicky (Bill) Wiseman of Toledo and Beverly (Nick) Rubley of Colorado.
Roger was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, John Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption, 2649 US 20 in Swanton, with Fr. Ron Schock officiating. Interment will immediately follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Assumption.
Friends will be received 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2010, with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Chapel in Delta.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation District, 8770 St. Rt. 108, Wauseon, Ohio 43567 or the Fulton County Farm Bureau, P.O. Box 53099, Pettisville, Ohio 43553 in Roger's memory.
